VON Thunder Bay was established in 1944 and is dedicated to being a leader in the delivery of innovative comprehensive health and social services in this community.

“As it was 75 years ago, VON plays an important role in our community “ said Robert Kilgour, VON Senior Manager, Home and Community Care. “Our vision is still very simple. We believe that every one of us deserves to live our lives to the fullest – and to receive care and comfort where our home is, and where our hearts are”.

VON Thunder Bay helps people at all ages and stages to live in their homes and communities by delivering the caring support that they and their families need. What began as a visiting nursing program now includes home support and community programs including Congregate Dining, Falls Prevention Exercise Programs, Adult Day Programs with transportation, and a range of support that help people remain health and in their homes, where they want to be.  

VON Thunder Bay is supported by funding from the North West Local Health Integration Network and donations from local business partners and individuals throughout Thunder Bay & District.
