One of Canada’s leading multi-disciplinary theatre companies, Theatre Gargantua is an artist-driven theatre company committed to the development and production of socially relevant, contemporary, original, multi-disciplinary Canadian work through an exploratory, collaborative, ensemble-based process.

Every year, we inspire new generations to engage with contemporary theatre through our outreach programs and matinee performances. We provide a forum for training and mentorship for artists at all stages of their careers, from recent graduates to professional artists. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to innovation, investigation and striving to engage the eyes, ears and mind with bold, captivating theatrical experiences.

Theatre Gargantua, under the direction of Jacquie PA Thomas, has been devising dynamic physical theatre for over 30 years. We begin with an inspired concept and distill it into a richly layered work over a two-year creation cycle. Each production melds daring physicality with striking designs underpinned by live original music, provocative text and the innovative use of technology. Gargantua has garnered over 30 Dora Mavor Moore Nominations and Awards for categories including Outstanding New Play, Direction, Sound Design, Set Design and Light Design. Milestones include extensive touring to the UK, including residencies at the Royal Exchange, Manchester and Rivserside Studios, London and the presentation of the company by Mirvish Productions at Toronto’s renowned Royal Alexandra Theatre.
