At St John's, we strive to be a welcoming place, open and inclusive for all.
We seek ways to recognize the Divine in our lives and to share this in our families and community. Through liturgy, music, action and reflection, we try to live Christ's message of love, peace, compassion and justice, in harmony with the natural world.
About ST JOHN'S UNITED CHURCH
We are a vibrant, inclusive and ever expanding church community in the heart of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
St John's is a welcoming and Affirming community of faith! We love and support all people, regardless of race, sexual orientation or gender identity.
We believe in community partnerships and support. We support and are active participants in the annual Halifax PRIDE Parade with other affirming communities of faith. We live out our commitment to diversity and inclusion in many ways, including the MANNA For HEALTH food bank for people living with HIV/AIDS, and an active Refugee Sponsorship program, as part of our Outreach ministry.
We are the first United Church in Halifax to now operate as a "Church Beyond Walls", having sold our old building in 2016. Since 2009 we have rented space and now worship at the Maritime Conservatory of the Performing Arts, 6199 Chebucto Road. Come visit us on a Sunday morning in the bright and beautiful Lillian Piercey Music Hall for worship and fellowship!
