SSVP Halifax Particular Council

about

For over a century, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul – Halifax has stood as a quiet but powerful force for good—offering direct, compassionate support to neighbours in Halifax, Fall River, Colchester County, Lunenburg County, Wolfville, and Amherst.

Each day, more than 320 devoted volunteers respond to urgent needs—delivering meals, helping with rent, covering overdue utility and medical bills, and bringing comfort to those facing crisis.

At the heart of our mission is something rare and deeply human: the home visit. We meet people where they are—in their homes, in their struggles, and in their stories. We listen, we pray, and we offer both emotional and practical support. This personal, face-to-face care is what makes our work not only effective, but transformative.

In 2025, the need has grown more urgent than ever. Economic instability and an escalating housing crisis are forcing more individuals and families—many for the first time—to reach out for help. As demand increases, our resources are stretched to the limit.

That’s why we’re asking for your partnership.

A gift to the Frédéric Ozanam Legacy Appeal will help ensure we can continue to respond swiftly and compassionately—without bureaucracy, without delay. Your support will provide food, pay outstanding utility bills, assist with covering rent and medical costs, and meet the urgent needs of people who have nowhere else to turn.

Your support through the Frederic Ozanam Legacy Appeal will allow us to meet this moment—not with red tape, but with presence, compassion, and hope. Our Impact in 2024
