2 Rooms Contemporary Art Projects is a platform for temporary on-site installation projects, exhibitions & events, and an on-going museum of material culture in Duntara, on the Bonavista Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Bonavista Biennale — a project of 2 Rooms — is a month-long, multi-site contemporary visual arts festival that takes place every other year at sites throughout the Bonavista Peninsula. The Biennale harnesses the power of art to: give people new ways to see, experience and engage with the world, enrich culture and society, and stimulate the local and regional economy. We do this by bringing contemporary Canadian art to a rural area with limited ongoing access to curated exhibitions, engaging residents and visitors through the exhibitions, events and educational experiences, and contributing to cultural tourism, employment and visitor spending on the peninsula.
The Biennale is a unique rural-based national initiative that is fast becoming a significant element within the Canadian cultural landscape, drawing visitors from across the province and the country, and around the world. With a mission to The 2017 Biennale was awarded the Tourism Excellence Award from Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador. Bonavista Biennale 2019 will take place from August 17 to September 15 on the Bonavista Peninsula.
