Youth Pipe and Drum Band in Winnipeg Manitoba
The Lord Selkirk RFM Pipe Band is a well-known Canadian Grade 4 youth band with a distinguished history introducing generation after generation of young pipers and drummers to Scotland’s musical heritage. Established in 1957, the most recent name change honours the founding father of the band, Pipe Major Robert Fraser. The pipe band, wearing the Ancient Douglas Tartan, fields a performance band and a competition band, all under the same banner.
Youth between the ages of 8 and 18 may join the band as a beginner piper, snare drummer, tenor drummer or bass drummer. Beginner instruction is either individual or small group instruction, and all progress at their own pace. All instruction is free
