about

Our mission since 1942, is to support and enable youth to meet the challenges of modern society, through a dynamic, community-based program that is accessible to all young citizens of Ontario.

Our vision is to prepare our youth to become the leaders for tomorrow through a set of fun, challenging, well organized and safe activities through living shared values of loyalty, professionalism, mutual respect and integrity with the goal of developing great citizens and encouraging volunteerism and community

From September - June, the weekly evening program, called the "Parade Night" runs once a week.  Throughout the year, we offer a busy schedule of activities such as drill, music and band, effective speaking, debating, and marksmanship.  Most of our cadets participate in annual events that includes special trips, community support, competitions, social events and special fundraising activities in support of the Squadron.

The cadets move up through the ranks from a lower ranked Cadet to, based on their commitment and abilities, leadership roles such as Flight Corporal to Warrant Officer level.  Ranks are a combination of successful completion of the activities and programs along with age and years of experience in Cadets.

Our Effective Speaking (ES) program provides opportunity for the Cadets to find their voice and build self-confidence through practice, instruction, and competition.  Annually, the top speakers compete at the regional Effective Speaking competition.  The top regional speakers then deliver prepared speeches and most excitingly, speak off-the-cuff like pros at the provincial Effective Speaking competition.

Through the public speaking forum, the cadets gain the passion and confidence.  This participation advances the cadet to take part in Debating, bringing with them proficiency, verbal dexterity and artful pontification that will serve them well in all areas of their life.

Our Summer Programs broadens the Cadets wealth of knowledge and empowers them to begin their own path in careers.  There are generous training opportunities and National Courses that are available to the Cadets, including International Air Cadet Exchange, Power Pilot Scholarship Course, Glider Pilot Scholarship Course, Advanced Aviation Technology Course in Airport Operations, Advanced Aviation Technology Coursed in Aircraft Maintenance and Advanced Aerospace Course.

The 79 Lynton Davies Air Cadet Squadron Port Colborne was formed in honour of “Lyn” Edward Lynton Davies in January 1942.
