About CHILD Foundation
Our vision is provide basic healthcare services to underprivileged women and children in rural India and expand the scope of services to reduce mortality rate by 80%. This is done by educating communities, leveraging disease prevention techniques, and innovating healthcare treatment / delivery approaches. The first hospital, a 20-bed 6,500 square feet facility, was opened for service on October 2nd, 2011 in a rural community of Sarurpur Kalan, serving a population of about 50,000. Since its opening in 2011, the hospital has logged over 250,000 patient-visits, primarily by women and children.
A Brief Update - 2024
India is experiencing many changes including the ways in which the government is funding healthcare. These developments and others are changing how we can best serve the community of Sarurpur. Listening to the community and the doctors at the hospital has informed how we can appropriately meet these shifting local needs. At the fundraising event, you will hear you about ways we are responding, including upgrading our solar panel system and adding a dental clinic to our health services.
Underutilized space is now being used to create an onsite computer and learning centre that is open to the community. Thanks to you and other generous supporters and the dedication of the hospital staff, the Maya Devi Hospital remains an integral part of the community of Sarurpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. We thank you for your continued support.
Urgent Need
Installation of a New Solar Power System to Satisfy Higher Power Demand
The hospital has expanded its education program by leveraging technology. This includes computer classes, health education classes and a library for high school students. To support the growing infrastructure and expanded services, we need to install a new solar power system and double the current capacity of 5 KW to 10 KW.
