Our Mission

The AV Hospice Society is a volunteer organization whose purpose is to provide compassionate, supportive, non-medical care to persons affected by life limiting illness, death and bereavement and to educate the public about living at the very end of life.

About Alberni Valley Hospice Society

Our volunteers are trained to provide confidential, supportive, knowledgeable and compassionate care in the community and in partnership with the Vancouver Island Health Authority at our in-patient bed program at Ty Watson House. Volunteers listen without judgment, provide emotional, social, and spiritual support to the ill, the bereaved and to caregivers. We also provide helpful information related to care giving, end-of-life, dying and bereavement, act as the client's advocate to ensure needs are met, and offer practical assistance and companionship.

As a non-profit society we depend on funding from in-memoriam donations, service organization, fundraising projects, direct access lottery and your donations.
