The CAUT Foundation is the charitable arm of CAUT that raises funds for the following charitable activities:
1. Advancement and assistance in the attainment and defense of civil liberties;
2. Support to individuals and groups seeking to establish or protect their freedom in any field;
3. Promotion of public awareness as to issues affecting civil liberties and freedom;
4. Advancement of education by providing courses, conferences, seminars and workshops to the public about the history and role in society of academia, research, teaching, and academic expression;
5. Advancement of education by conducting research on the history and role of society in postsecondary institutions, academic research and teaching, and academic expression;
6. Advancement of education by providing awards to Canadian, landed immigrant or refugee status students or academics studying in Canada to encourage academic excellence;
7. Advancement of education by providing scholarships to graduate students studying at a Canadian university; and,
8. Facilitation of education, counselling, resettlement, sponsorship, and other support services for immigrants and refugees in need.
Donors have the possibility to select which charitable purpose they wish to support.
