General Surgery Collaborative Network for Urban, Rural & Remote Surgeons

Building on mentoring initiatives already being explored by the Canadian Association of General Surgeons for rural surgeons, as well as women in surgery, this program seeks to build a network of general surgeons to respond to requests for coaching, advice, and training, to empower general surgeons in remote areas to confidently take on slightly more complex cases, enabling greater surgical care for patients close to home.

With your generous gifts, the Foundation – in conjunction with the Canadian Association of General Surgeons – will support the development of a robust mentoring program, management of a network of general surgeon advisors and mentors, and enabling technologies: a database of general surgeons, immersive coaching technologies and  channels by which to link them to colleagues in more rural practices. The network would also support the piloting, implementation and scale up of solutions developed through the CARSS competition.
