When wildfires impact our communities, food support is a large part of the emergency response. Our thoughts are with those impacted by the Bald Range, Quilpituk Creek, and Bradley Creek wildfires.
The Central Okanagan Food Bank has been helping those affected by the fires by packing hundreds of emergency food boxes, preparing meals in our kitchen, and distributing food to evacuation centres and wherever it is needed most, right away.
Our emergency hamper program is available to anyone who needs support during a crisis, whether or not they are a registered Food Bank client. During an evacuation, needs can change quickly. Initially, people may need snacks, comfort foods, and ready-to-eat meals. As they move into hotels or temporary accommodations, they may need groceries, staples, and essentials to prepare meals.
We will continue to respond as long as our community needs us. If new fires emerge or communities are evacuated, we will show up again and again to provide food and support where it is needed.
Your donations make this response possible. They help us purchase the food, supplies, and essentials needed to support evacuees, prepare meals, and respond quickly in an emergency.
Please consider donating today to help us be ready to respond when our community needs us.
