At 82 years strong, Christian Health Association of Alberta (CHAA) is the province’s longest-serving association of continuing care operators. We’re the only provincial association that is restricted to not-for-profit providers.

Our member organizations operate in nearly half of all Alberta municipalities, offering more than 38,000 spaces in facilities, outreach programs and community housing. Operators have between 30 and 160 years of experience in health care delivery.

Our earliest faith-based members established the province’s first rural nursing stations in the mid-1800s. Ever since, CHAA operators have been recognized as Alberta’s first public health care system – offering not-for-profit, mission-driven services to those most in need.

CHAA operators are deeply rooted in the vast array of resident values, cultures, faiths, families, and relationships we are privileged to serve. The diversity of ethnicities, languages, foods, personal relationships, and cultural and spiritual practices in today's care settings are far richer and more inclusive than we've ever experienced in generations past.
