Every day The Salvation Army Booth Centre provides a place where more than 100 men experiencing homelessness can live temporarily. The Booth Centre is more than just a roof over the heads of people in desperate need. We offer three nutritious meals a day, laundry facilities, showers, a computer lab, access to emergency clothing, as well as many other services.
The Booth Centre, Hamilton`s largest shelter, has 82 dormitory style beds and an additional 21 private room beds for men who need a place to sleep. Most nights (especially during the winter) our shelter and private rooms are overfilled with folks who are looking for a safe place to sleep. We do our best to ensure that no one gets turned away. We regularly refer to the other shelters and also place mats on the floor when needed.
Everyone who stays at the Booth Centre is connected with our staff and is supported to make positive changes in their life. Through case management, each resident has an opportunity to identify needs and set goals, and assistance is given in accessing various services (i.e. employment, housing, addictions, education, medical, etc.) that will assist our residents to get back on their feet.
Other programming includes weekly optional chapel services, monthly themed celebrations, and our onsite primary health care clinic (for those who do not have a family doctor).
