Neighbours is about creating communities where everyone feels welcome and at home. We are a non-profit organization committed to social purpose and making a positive impact in Toronto. Your funding dollars will assist many of Toronto's most vulnerable, assisting with housing and a range of support services.
Our Vision: Everyone has a home in a welcoming and supportive community.
Our Mission: We advance equity, inclusion and the wellbeing of people who have mental health challenges through affordable and secure housing, services and leadership in the sector.
About Us
Neighbours started in the late 70s/early 80's. We were originally two organizations: Houselink Community Homes and Mainstay Housing. Houselink and Mainstay joined as one organization in 2021. We officially changed our name to Neighbours in 2025 with a goal to address homeless ness and make Toronto a more inclusive city by developing more housing and building welcoming communities where some residents receive support services.
We are now on the path to create more housing in Toronto where people feel at home and valued in the community, no matter where they come from or what their life path may be.
Neighbours manages more than 1,000 units in 53 residential locations in key neighbourhoods across Toronto. We are driven to develop more homes that matter and shape communities where everyone belongs, as we advance equity, wellbeing and security.
We value self-determination - everyone we serve can make choices and direct their lives. We promote autonomy and are compassionate.
We value equity - seeking to benefit the lives of all people who have mental health challenges. We use our position to break down barriers and challenge discrimination in all its forms.
We value stewardship - preserving, improving and growing our housing communities. We are responsible, innovative and collaborative.
We value accountability - doing our best, learning and growing and using our resources wisely. We are professional, reliable and honest.
