PROSeeds Ontario is a charity supporting initiatives that enhance opportunities for Ontarians to participate in recreation, sport, parks and other leisure activities. One of the identified purposes of PROSeeds Ontario is to ‘support the training and education of volunteers and professionals responsible for recreation and parks’.

HIGH FIVE® Impact Fund

The HIGH FIVE Impact Fund breaks down barriers that prevent youth in Ontario from earning HIGH FIVE certification and key employment skills they need to work as leaders in children’s programs. Youth often gain their first work experience in this type of job with 59% of all jobs working with children being filled by young people under 25. This includes jobs as camp counsellors, coaching assistants, program leaders at resorts and tourist attractions and more.

More than 100,000 leaders nationwide are HIGH FIVE certified and increasing numbers of employers recommend or require HIGH FIVE certification as a prerequisite for employment. Access to HIGH FIVE training is a launching pad for many youth into a meaningful career and enhanced community engagement. HIGH FIVE believes everyone deserves equal access to that opportunity.

Your donation to the HIGH FIVE Impact Fund provides a youth in need with:

• HIGH FIVE certification- nationally recognized as the quality standard for working with kids;
• Valuable job skills including program planning, communication, teamwork and problem solving;
• Resources and a set of Principles that they can refer back to when encountering a challenging situation;
• Tools for making decisions based on healthy child development research;
• Access to mentoring and networking opportunities; and
• Confidence in becoming a leader and making positive difference in kid's lives that will last a lifetime.

Background Information

In celebration of Canada’s 150th Birthday, the HIGH FIVE Impact Fund kicked off in Ontario at the 2017 PRO Educational Forum and Trade Show. The HIGH FIVE Impact Fund was created to ensure that every youth has the opportunity to become HIGH FIVE certified. Aligned with the Principles of HIGH FIVE, the Fund helps to remove barriers and enhance the employability of youth who have an interest in working with kids.
