Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with over 1 million members in over 30,000 plus clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.
On May 23, 1947 the Rotary Club of Burnaby was established. The Club caused the incorporation of the Rotary Club of Burnaby Foundation, a society registered under the Society Act of British Columbia and registered with Canada Revenue Agency as a tax exempt charitable organization. The intention of the Foundation is to work in concert with the club to fund various projects.
