In 2025, the South Island Primary Care Society demonstrated the power of community action by making remarkable strides toward better healthcare access.
Our commitment has already delivered impressive results:
• 16+ new doctors joined the South Island
• 5+ clinics sustained and newly opened
• 144,000+ family practice patient appointments provided
• 10,800+ urgent care visits for patients without a family doctor
• 360+ expectant parents received maternity care
• Our team now boasts 32 dedicated Primary Care Providers
This growth has been pivotal for our community, but our journey is far from over. Despite our achievements, the BC Health Registry shows that nearly 50,000 people on the South Island still do not have access to a family doctor. We are commit ted to bridging this gap—ensuring every individual can see a healthcare provider, when they need it and before issues become urgent. But we can’t do this alone.
