Originally an English version of Les Correspondances d'Eastman and named Letters from Knowlton, the Knowlton Literary Festival became an independent organization in 2010 as a production of the Knowlton Literary Association (l'Association Littéraire de Knowlton), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to encouraging the literary arts within the town of Knowlton and surrounding communities.
The Knowlton Literary Festival seeks to involve the community in activities celebrating work written in the English language by local and out-of-town authors. It also fosters verbal creativity through workshops for people of all ages and backgrounds as well as actively supporting the work of the Yamaska Literacy Council.
Now preparing its tenth edition, the Knowlton Literary Festival has developed a program that features events on local history, readings by and interviews with writers from Quebec and across Canada.
With support from the Ville de Lac-Brome, the Knowlton Lions Club, the Knowlton Players, Townshippers' Foundation, Pacte Rural of the Brome-Missisquoi MRC, and private and corporate donors, the event is now a flourishing literary festival drawing participants from across the Eastern Townships, Montreal, Ontario and the United States.
