Our Mission

A Love of Tennis is a national charity dedicated to providing inclusive and accessible tennis programming for all. 

It empowers adult and child participants to be active through tennis, which in turn builds character and develops life enhancing values. It also provides programs for women and girls to help promote gender equity.

About A Love of Tennis Inc./Pour L'Amour de Tennis

To give children access to free tennis programming, we use two dedicated facilities. One belonging to Hillcrest Highschool (600 Smyth Rd.), which provide four hard courts, and another at Ridgemont Highschool (2597 Alta Vista Dr.), which have two.

However, there are areas where parents do not have the resources or the access to transportation to bring their kids to tennis courts. So, to give all kids the chance to try out the sport for free, we bring our nets and equipment onto any flat surface we can find, like old basketball courts for example. 

Furthermore, we were shocked to find the majority of kids we encounter have physical literacy scores of only 25-35%. Many kids lack the basics, such as throwing, catching, hopping and skipping, which interferes with their confidence to play sports. Through our tennis programming, we teach basic physical literacy and tennis skills. That way, children learn to play tennis, either against one another or on a team, and most importantly, they develop the self confidence to play any sport for life!

Our organization truly changes lives and gives children the opportunity to lead a healthier and happier life, so we stick by our mission, leaving no child behind.
