Give someone the gift of belonging.

Abilities Centre is a charitable organization enhancing the quality of life and citizenship for all community members, including those with physical and cognitive disabilities, to help them achieve their goals in an environment that welcomes everyone.

Our flagship facility in Durham is a world-class recreation, athletic, and performing arts facility that is fully accessible to persons both with and without disabilities. It has received international recognition as one of the world's most accessible and barrier-free community hubs.

Here, we deliver health and wellness, sports and recreation, and life-skills programming that are available to all, but with a particular focus on serving those who are often left out due to physical or mental ability, poverty or social exclusion.

As a community centre, research hub and inclusion incubator, our mission is to take our programs beyond the Durham Region to other communities across the country.

Through your donation, you help to create a community in which everyone is empowered to pursue their goals.

In the process, you play a vital role in creating a model of community participation and inclusion that we are sharing with others across Canada and around the world.

When you donate to Abilities Centre, you:

  1. Enable us to deliver THRIVE, our signature day program for adults living with cognitive and physical disabilities.
  2. Help make our centre available to those in the Durham Region who are not able to afford other community programs.
  3. Advocate for the rights and inclusion of those in our society who are often excluded from full community participation.
  4. Create a model community that serves as an example to other communities across Canada and globally on the power of inclusion and accessibility in creating a more prosperous world for all.
