Adaptive Adventures

about

For 25 years, our organization has helped people with disabilities experience mountains, rivers, and trails—places they’re too often told aren’t for them. This week, thieves stole $250,000 worth of adaptive equipment from our storage facility, impacting hundreds of participants and thousands of program spots. They didn’t just take bikes and kayaks; they took away sunshine on faces, wind in hair, and the freedom of the outdoors.

Even with this setback, we are not canceling programs. We’re not backing down. But we need your help to rebuild. Every dollar raised will replace what was stolen and expand access for even more people with disabilities this spring and summer.

The theft set us back. Your support will push us forward.

Our Story

Founded in 2001 as Community Recreational Initiatives Society (CRIS), Adaptive Adventures was born from a simple belief: the outdoors belongs to everyone. Today, we bring that vision to life through three programs that make nature accessible, empowering people of all abilities to explore, connect, and thrive outside.

  • Adaptive Outdoor Recreation (AOR) – local, day-based adventures

  • Adaptive Wilderness Expeditions (AWE) – immersive, backcountry experiences

  • Adaptive Rentals (AR) – adaptive equipment for independent exploration

2024 Impact

🌲 1,345 client outings ⏱️ 2,570 hours outdoors 💚 Countless moments of joy, sense of community, and empowerment.
