ACO believes that every child deserves a "forever family". Our mission is to educate, support and advocate on behalf of those touched by adoption in Ontario.
About ADOPTION COUNCIL OF ONTARIO
The Adoption Council of Ontario, or "ACO", is a membership based organization for all parties to adoption in Ontario -- adopted persons, adoptive parents, birth parents, professionals -- as well as anyone interested in adoption. ACO is a registered charity and a province-wide organization based in Toronto. ACO runs the Adoption Resource Centre in Toronto at 3216 Yonge St. (above Lawrence Ave). The Adoption Resource Centre houses a library, a telephone helpline and small meeting rooms.
ACO is the lead organization for AdoptOntario, a program to recruit adoptive families for Ontario children who are awaiting adoptive placement.
ACO offers a telephone helpline, seminars and education programs, the "Adoption Roundup" newsletter and two web sites: www.adoptontario.ca and www.adoption.on.ca.
