Our Mission
AFCOOP is an accessible not-for-profit member-run centre for the production and presentation of creative films in a collaborative, learning environment. AFCOOP is dedicated to the inclusion of priority groups and Aboriginal artists through various outreach programs.
All donations will support AFCOOP's ongoing operations, which support independent filmmakers in the creation of unique, innovative, and challenging films.

AFCOOP has the most accessible film production equipment and facilities in Nova Scotia, providing members and the public with a wide range of equipment and facilities 24/7 at reasonable rates.
AFCOOP's core activities are film production programs, workshops, and screenings serving media artists at all levels. The organization's film training workshops and programs are some of the most comprehensive in Canada. AFCOOP’s screenings are diverse, challenging, and engaging.
AFCOOP is a resource centre for media artists - where people meet, network, view films, and exchange ideas. It offers an e-newsletter, web site, socials, screenings, a festival, other events, and volunteer opportunities.
AFCOOP has a range of programs supporting filmmakers including: The introductory 16mm One Minute Film Program for beginners, 35mm FILM 5 for intermediate filmmakers, the Filmmaker In Residence Program for established filmmakers, and the Open Grants Program for media artists at any level.
