Vision: We envision a community where every person, regardless of their circumstances, can access the healthcare and support they need to live with dignity, safety, and connection.
Mission Statement: Elevate NWO provides evidenced based HIV and hepatitis C testing and treatment, harm reduction services, and comprehensive wrap-around supports that respond to the changing needs of our community, from housing to mental health and beyond. We support with compassion, dignity, and evidence-informed care.
About This Cause: Elevate NWO is Northwestern Ontario’s leading source for confidential HIV/AIDS/ Hepatitis C (HCV) and Harm Reduction education, prevention, advocacy and support. Formed in 1985 as AIDS Thunder Bay and renamed later as Elevate NWO, we raise awareness of discrimination and stigmatization related to HIV and Hepatitis C, while responding proactively to the emergence of these viruses and other STBBIs in our region. Elevate NWO develops programs and services that respond to the changing needs of the communities we serve. We deliver a full range of harm reduction services including onsite needle/syringe program, naloxone training and distribution, outreach and peer programming to support the needs of people most affected by drug use, or at risk of drug poisoning/overdose, and other community supports. Elevate NWO also offers on on-site Clinical Care services including testing, treatment, case management and personal support. We’re leaders in making our community a more inclusive, caring place to live. As a reflection of our mandate, our dedicated employees provide support services without judgment to people at risk of, living with, or affected by HIV and Hepatitis C.
