Akshaya Patra is the world’s largest NGO school meal program, providing hot, nutritious school meals to 2 million children in India daily. Akshaya Patra means the unlimited bowl of abundance and sustenance. The organization began its operations in the year 2000 by serving 1,500 meals to a small group of local schools. With the vision to eliminate classroom hunger, Akshaya Patra has since scaled to serve over 1.8 million meals to children in over 20,000 government schools across 14 States and 2 Union Territories in India daily. Our Mid-day Meal program will reach 3 million children by 2025.
