Alberta Dance Theatre provides an outstanding and unique program to dancers in grades 2-12 in the Calgary area through an intense 12-week program where dancers engage in a creative process alongside professional dance artists. It is through this educational experience that dancers not only learn to create choreography and gain technical dance training, but also develop skills such as creative problem solving, healthy risk taking, collaboration, and leadership.
Throughout it's 40 years the company has employed local professional composers, lighting designers, choreographers, theatre artists, and visual artists.
The company of young dancers shares a production annually in a professional theatre setting where tickets are donated to families where the ticket price in not accessible. The company also visits local age care facilities, senior's residencies, and local festivals to share their love of storytelling through movement.
Scholarship opportunities are given annually to financially assist dancers with a dedication to performing access our programming.
