Alberta SPCA

about

Our Purpose

At the Alberta SPCA, our purpose is to protect, promote and enhance the well-being of animals in Alberta.

As the only organization enforcing animal protection laws province-wide, we do more than respond when animals are in need - we work to prevent harm before it happens. Through education, advocacy and partnerships with communities, caregivers and government, we're helping to build a province where animals are respected and cared for. Because when animals thrive, so do the people around them.

What we do

Animal Enforcement

We're the only organization solely dedicated to enforcing Alberta's animal protection laws all over Alberta - working in every corner of the province to prevent harm through education, advocacy and on-the-ground enforcement.

Pet Safekeeping

We are dedicated to helping people impacted by family violence leave abusive situations by providing temporary care for their pets while their guardians enter a safe shelter.

Humane Education

Humane education is an approach to teaching that inspires compassion to animals, people and the environment - every living thing. It incorporates students' relationships with other species and the Earth we share, providing a unique perspective for reflecting on one's place in the world.

Animal Care

We provide tools, guidance and support caregivers need to ensure animals receive the care and compassion they deserve.
