Education is an Investment

Education is an investment for a lifetime. A contribution to the Algoma University Annual Fund is a contribution to the success of our students. We value all donations to the Annual Fund from donors, alumni, staff, faculty, supporters and community partners and recognize the importance of your support. Your donation to the Algoma University Annual Fund helps to create new opportunities for all our students and make a significant impact on their future.

Gifts to the Annual Fund provide support:

  • Scholarships Awards: Granted solely on the basis of academic achievements
  • Bursary Awards: Helps ensure university education is accessible for all students regardless of financial resources
  • Student Experience: The pandemic has caused a great deal of upheaval for many students and for some, significant financial hardship. The success of our students is our top priority. In response, a new Student Emergency Fund was established to provide urgent financial assistance to students unable to cover immediate, essential expenses as a result of the crisis
  • Athletic Awards: Athletic scholarships are based on academic achievement and athletic excellence, and are administered in accordance with the U Sports and Ontario University Athletics (OUA) regulations
  • Adopt-A-Thunderbird: As an Adopt-A-Thunderbird supporter, your donation will be used in the following ways to enhance the Algoma University Thunderbirds Varsity Athletics Program by purchasing specialized equipment; assisting with travel expenses for tournaments and out-of-town competitions; providing opportunities for off-season training and student-athlete achievement awards
  • Algoma U Special Mission: Algoma University will use its history and stories to teach the truth about the history of residential schools as a part of the transformational effort and move the priority of healing and reconciliation forward
  • Special Projects/Research: With support from generous donors and in partnership with campus departments, Algoma University has from time to time special projects and initiatives

We wish to acknowledge that the campuses of Algoma University are located on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Mushkegowuk Cree, as well as hereditary lands of the Métis Nation.
