I am writing on behalf of Alliance for CancerCare Equity, a charity that provides financial support for cancer treatment for underserved patients in Ghana and Canada. Today, I want to share the story of a brave little 10-year-old girl, Gilda Tuffour, who has been diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor. I am writing to you with a heavy heart but also with hope—hope that your empathy, compassion and generosity can help save the life of this courageous 10-year-old girl.

At just ten years old, Gilda dreams not only of growing up but of making a difference in the world. She envisions walking to school with her friends, her laughter mingling with theirs as they share lessons and dreams. One day, she hopes to don a nurse’s uniform, caring for patients with the same empathy and compassion that she’s come to admire. But today, Gilda’s battle with cancer stands between her and that future. Her diagnosis has turned her world upside down, placing her future at risk, stealing away the carefree joy of childhood and replacing it with hospital visits, grueling treatments, and unimaginable pain. Despite the hardships, she remains strong and resilient, clinging to dreams of going back to school, playing with her friends, and simply being a child again.

However, her family is now facing an overwhelming financial burden. The cost of her treatment is estimated at 85,000 GHS (~$8,500CND), a sum far beyond their means. Without immediate support, her chance of receiving the lifesaving care she desperately needs is slipping away. Your support can help turn her dream into a reality—because every child deserves a chance to heal, to dream, and to thrive.

This is where we turn to you. At the Alliance for CancerCare Equity (ACCE), we believe that no child should be denied a chance at life because of financial constraints. But we cannot do this alone.
