About the ALLIED ARTS COUNCIL OF LETHBRIDGE
The Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge (AAC) was established on March 20, 1958 and works to encourage, coordinate and promote the arts in Lethbridge & area.
The AAC coordinates numerous events and projects in Lethbridge, including Arts Days, Upside Downtown summer concert series, free professional development sessions, Mayor's Luncheon for Business and the Arts, and Christmas at Casa. AAC Works is a fine art & craft retail boutique promoting locally created works to the community. The AAC manages Casa, a unique Community Arts Centre in Lethbridge, that provides communal studio space, accessible arts education, a robust gallery program, and event/meeting space for arts groups.
The AAC's Education program provides art instruction for artists of different abilities, ages, and disciplines. Two programs that do not receive direct government support at Casa are the RAW and AMAPA Programs. When you donate to these programs, you are making a direct impact on an artist's well-being.
RAW or Real Artists at Work provides arts opportunities to individuals transitioning out of homelessness. This program supports 15 individuals at each session. Participants are referred through Alberta Health Services or other local agencies in Lethbridge.
AMAPA or Accessibility Modified Art Program for Adults allows for inclusive and accessible arts programming at Casa and provides bursaries to participants. Smaller class sizes allow for instructors to work with artists who may have learning disabilities, physical limitations, or be struggling with mental health. Our AMAPA artists gain new skills while having fun.
