The primary mission of the Alternative pour Elles shelter is to provide services to women who are victims of domestic violence and to their children, whether accommodation is provided or not.
Our feminist approach considers women and their children as a whole. We take into account all needs resulting from the violence they have experienced.
Our counselling services, whether done over the phone or face-to-face, are aimed at mitigating the consequences of violence on women and helping them to regain control of their lives. Our interventions are focused on safety, information, support and guidance as well as on the defense of women’s rights.
At Alternative pour Elles, we work with various partners dealing with domestic violence at the legal, social and community levels to ensure that the safety of victimized women and children is everyone’s priority.
Concerted action is crucial if we are to influence the mentalities and values involved in spousal relationships.
