Help a Mother Give Her Child the Gift of Learning
Dolpo families are subsistence farmers and semi-nomadic herders. Mothers work tirelessly to keep their families fed. Everything here is done by hand. Every extra pair of hands, no matter how small, helps the family survive. Sending a child to school is a true sacrifice, as mothers must work even harder to make up for the loss of help at home and in the fields.
Thirty years ago, there were no schools here, and most parents are illiterate. Children had to leave their villages for monasteries in distant places like Kathmandu or India, often losing touch with their families and culture. Today, the small village schools we support mean families can stay together. Parents can raise their children, share their traditions, and ensure they receive an education, while children continue to help at home and learn close to their roots.
You can help make this possible. Your gift today will help a mother's dream of education for her child come true. It will bring lasting change to one family, one village, and an entire generation.
