Long-term Desired Outcome
Supporting learning is the only way to create real social change, and to break the cycle of poverty. Our desired outcome is for each child from the Upper Dolpo to have the education and development opportunities that they need to reach their full potential. This means enabling each child to graduate from primary school, and to move on to grades 6 thru 10 at a Tibetan Exile School in Kathmandu. Graduates who have returned to the Upper Dolpo as teachers and nurses become role models for the young students. Education benefits the entire community and helps build a better world, not just for the people of the Upper Dolpo, but for everyone.
“Education is the right of every child. It should be free and fair, with equal access for girls and boys.”– Article 28, Convention on the Rights of the Child, 1989
