Amabile Choirs of London, Canada is a community-based not-for-profit organization of almost 300 world-class chorister, aged 8 through adult, who sing in eight choirs. They perform across South-western Ontario, across Canada and around the world
Amabile is an Italian word that simply means “friendly”... and for three decades we have been growing friendships, and raising beautiful voices in song throughout southwestern-Ontario and around the world.
All donations, gifts and bequests directly benefit our talented singers. Many things can be 'had for a song' but not sheet music, storage, insurance, composers royalties, recording studio time or performance venues - even churches. Amabile Choirs of London, Canada is very much a volunteer-based organization. We have no physical offices or capital overhead. The professional artistic staff and the office staff volunteer many more hours each week than they are contracted for.
From day one, Amabile has had a policy that we never turn away any talented chorister for financial reason. Almost 10% of our singers are on a full or part bursary. Last season the Amabile Bursary Fund supported 33 singers with over $18,000 in funding.
Amabile represents choral singing at its highest level. We are the “most winning” choir in the national CBC Choral Competitions; we have won festivals around the world – from Southern California to Vienna, Austria. The Amabile Youth Singers – our Young Women’s choir has twice won the European Broadcasting Union’s “Let the People Sing” competition. Our choirs have recorded 15 CDs between them.
Your support ensures that Amabile's friendly voices continue to sing!
