Too often, African girls are subjected to harmful cultural practices like female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) and child marriage making them vulnerable to many debilitating and even life threatening health issues.
Help provide sexual and reproductive health education to young girls and their communities and encourage programs like Amref Health Africa’s “Alternative Rites of Passage (ARP)” that maintain cultural celebrations surrounding a girl’s transition into womanhood but without the pain and risks of FGM/C.
