Protecting cats and wildlife

Although cats are a domestic species, many municipalities consider feral cats "wild animals".  Feral cats are often demonized because of their impact on bird species.

The Animal Alliance Fund supports other organizations working to help reduce feral cat populations via Trap-Neuter-Return, to facilitate access to spay/neuter clinics and to educate and build awareness about non-lethal approaches to feral cat colony management.

---

Thousands of wild animals die due to conflict with humans. Death may be achieved through trapping, poisoning, culling, activities that negatively impact the welfare of the animals. These conflicts are wide ranging and affect many species including beaver, deer, bears, coyotes, wolves, raccoons, squirrels, geese, pigeons and many others. The conflicts almost always result in killing the animals in question. Such approaches often cause significant community opposition and although counter-intuitive, removing animals from conflict situations have proven to be either ineffective or counterproductive.

We intend identify the lack of information on alternative tools needed by governments, wildlife managers and the community to resolve these conflicts without lethal measures and in many cases also results in a better protected environment.
