In response to COVID-19 we have had to suspend programming. We work with many families and the programs are important to them. With the current pandemic, we have found another way to work with families. We are helping families both emotionally and with securing Basic Needs such as food, diapers, and feminine hygiene products to name a few. We are working with Food Banks and a number of organizations who also want to support families. We have protocols in place and are delivering food and supplies to families. We are also willing to assist other organizations with delivery of food, or other necessities. Parenting Information and Support is especially important right now. To help alleviate some of the pressure parents and children are under, we are putting up suggestions re: what to do with kids that are no cost on our Facebook page each day, we are available by phone to talk or to offer support to families, we put ongoing updates regarding COVID-19 on Facebook as we find out new things (we try not to overwhelm people)– currently, we are working to put activity kits together for children that include no cost activities. If purchases need to be made, our organization will absorb the cost. Once completed we will be delivering them to families. Crisis Management: There are many vulnerable families with whom we work. We will be contacting them regularly for check-ins and to offer support, we may be using Facetime so we can see one another – that will depend on individual comfort levels. We are located in both Hants (Kennetcook and surrounding area) & Kings (Canning and surrounding area) counties.
