Ansaar Mobile Food Bank will deliver non-perishable food items to Homeless people and Seniors in the areas of Flemingdon Park and Thorncliffe area.  Ansaar is doing this capital campaign towards purchase of Van.  The funding will also cover operations expenses such as insurance, storage facility, van, parking, drivers, program person and food.

Over 1500 homeless and seniors will not have to walk in difficult weathers from one food bank to the other. They will be now able to have food which is the basic necessity for living. Please help Anssar to achieve its goals in purchase and running of Mobile Food Bank.

Facts about Food Insecurity: The prevalence of household food insecurity in Toronto was at 12% according to the 2012 census. Also, the majority of food insecure households across Canada (62.2%) were working, while of households reliant on social assistance, 70% were food insecure (Tarasuk et al., 2014). These statistics demonstrate the increasing numbers of “working poor” (Metcalf, 2012) and the inadequacy of existing government programs to support people living on limited or fixed incomes. The Daily Bread’s annual survey revealed an alarming trend of almost one-in-ten people relying on food banks.
