ARC TURNS 20 in 2020 - AND WE’RE RAISING $20 000 TO JUMPSTART THE NEXT 20...
UPDATE: As a precautionary measure in response to COVID-19, and in solidarity with theatres and cultural organizations across our city, it is with a heavy heart that we made the difficult decision to close our production of Ella Hickson's OIL.
Our FINAL SHOW took place one week early, on Sunday, Mar 15 at 2:00pm.
Before it was forced to close early, audiences and critics were raving about OIL...
“Dazzling. NNNN - Critics' Pick.” - NOW Magazine
“An infinite tapestry contained in a neat and beautiful box." - BroadwayWorld
“One helluva bold and riviting production with enthralling performances - incredibly powerful theatre.” - OnStage
“The cast is stellar. Oil is a terrific, timely play by ARC - one of our best indie theatre companies. SEE IT.” - The Slotkin Letter
“You can't take your eyes off Bahareh Yaraghi. Samantha brown is deeply compelling." - Sesaya
THERE'S STILL A WAY YOU CAN SUPPORT OIL - AND HELP TO ASSURE IT HAS A FUTURE...
We believe that ARC's production of OIL needs to be seen. However, the broad cancellations due to COVID-19 have put the company's financial stability on uncertain ground. It's not even simply that we had to cancel the run of OIL; ARC receives much of its annual funding from the AGCO's Charitable Gaming initiative. Because of this crisis, all Charitable Gaming events have been suspended across Ontario for the near future.
To help ARC mitigate the financial loss that we are currently experiencing - and to help ensure that this fine production has a future - the artists of ARC hope that you might consider making a donation. See below how you can help support. And thank you for your continued generosity through these strange days...
ARC IS 20 IN 2020
This is our 20th anniversary. And it’s been an EPIC year…
You know ARC. We’ve grown up together. Since 2000, we’ve become known as a scrappy little independent theatre company that consistently surprises, provokes, and punches well above our weight.
ARC is a truly unique theatre company. ARC's core team of Resident Artists - performers, directors, and designers - works closely on every project, building a deep sense of trust and creative play. It allows for a truly collaborative room, where each artist feels fully activated, invested, and heard. Though many of ARC's Resident Artists are busy contributing to the country's wider theatre landscape, they value their membership in this company because the artists choose the work they do. Each project is a carefully curated labour of love for us. Essentially, the artists are responsible for choosing the work we make, how we make it, and how to create a meaningful connection with the communities in which we make it.
The past 20 years have been a steady ramping up of operations for ARC. Our Resident Artists are now consistently named among of the best ensembles in the country. In just the past 5 years, ARC has been nominated for 14 Dora Mavor Moore awards, winning in 2016 for POMONA. This past year led to the company receiving a modest but important amount of stable annual funding from the city of Toronto, in recognition of our company’s past artistic excellence and future structural viability.
And you’ve been with us all along. Whether you’ve come out to see the shows, chosen to donate to our company, or simply kept up with us from a distance out of curiosity.
We couldn’t have gotten here without you. Thank you. From all of us.
THE ASK: YOUR GIFT OF JUST $100 WILL HELP LAUNCH ARC INTO THE NEXT 20 YEARS.
100% of your donation goes toward supporting ARC’s ensemble of Resident Artists and their work in the community.
Consider buying ARC a $20 "Ticket to the Future!" $20 was the lowest price for a ticket to our cancelled production of Ella Hickson's OIL. Your donation of $20 is a way to support the show, and to help to ensure we're in a sound financial position to create a future for this dazzling production.

However - and this part’s important - every little bit helps. Got a fiver in your pocket you’re willing to part with? We’ll take it. It all goes toward the continued creation of work that is innovative, rigourous, energizing, and bold. And tax receipts are available for gifts of $20 or greater.
So. Thanks again for your support. Seriously.
Now — let’s dive into the next 20 years together…
