Giving Tuesday 2022

Fun activities during the day; safe and warm cabins at night!

For over 55 years, Kidston has provided unique, meaningful outdoor experiences to hundreds of children, youth, and families each summer.  Summer 2022 brought more campers than ever before, and campers spent hours outside swimming and playing games, in creative endeavours such as arts and crafts, on adventures through the woods and across the lake, singing silly campfire songs and skits, and enjoying delicious homemade meals.  Most importantly, they made friendships and memories to last a lifetime.

With age comes the need for repairs to core camp buildings and equipment.  This Giving Tuesday, our goal is to raise the funds needed to extend the life of our current facilities and ensure Kidston can provide safe and fun experiences for years to come.  You can make a difference by supporting the replacement of roofs on two original cabins and the re-installation of Low Elements pillars.

Let us explain…

Kidston’s two original cabins have both developed roof leaks over the past year.  Winter windstorms and the recent hurricane took their toll on these old roofs, which now need to be replaced.  In order to ensure all campers enjoy a safe and secure night at the end of a busy camp day, we must replace the shingles on both buildings.

Similarly, freeze-thaw cycles and summer rains have affected the Low Elements program area. This outdoor program area teaches teamwork and encourages personal challenge through various ‘elements’ including slacklines, climbing, obstacle courses, and more.  The core wooden pillars that support these ‘elements’ have slowly been heaved from the ground and need to be re-installed before use in Summer 2023.

To cover the cost of roofing two cabins and re-installing Low Elements pillars, we must fundraise $10,000.

You can help us reach this goal!  Your gift will make a difference to over 350 campers by ensuring that key Kidston cabins and programs remain safe and accessible.

Camp Kidston is a registered charity and donations are tax deductible.  Should we surpass our fundraising goal, extra funds will be transferred to our general donation fund, which supports numerous camp projects from property repairs to camper sponsorship.
