Our mission

Our mission, our team and our services

L’Éveil is an association offering assistance to those affected with mental health issues. We are a non-profit organisation founded in 1995 and serving all of Brome-Missisquoi’s approximately 21 municipalities, from Bedford to Sutton, with a total population of about 55,228 inhabitants (source: Brome-Missisquoi MRC 2011). Our exceptional working team consists of 5 employees, three caseworkers and an administrative assistant /community caregiver. We also benefit from the generous help of 15 volunteers, 7 members of the board of directors and eight others for general volunteering. The number of service users currently receiving services at L’Éveil is, to date, 74.

Our mission is to help adults (18-65 years of age) living or having lived with serious mental health problems (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, etc.) Services include; support groups, accompaniment to the doctor or during legal proceedings, assistance in finding housing, setting up a budget, etc. These are just some of the services we offer to enhance members’ independence, quality of life and reintegration into society.

We also offer social, recreational activities and rehabilitation projects to maintain their physical well-being, mental and emotional states. We also organise walking groups, workshops for personal growth, outings to the sugar shack, a Christmas party, and the possibility of participation in the Raspberry Project and community garden.

Our mission is also to educate people experiencing mental health problems, their families and the general public. We also participate in public forums to educate the general public, including health professionals; we explain the needs of people with serious mental health problems.
