The Quebec Association of Adapted Sailing (AQVA) is a registered nonprofit and charitable organization since 1998. Its Board of Directors includes individuals living with disabilities, ensuring authentic and engaged representation.
AQVA’s programs are designed to help reduce the daily challenges faced by people with physical and/or sensory disabilities. Too often, they encounter situations where decisions are made for them rather than with them, which can undermine self-confidence. Our goal is to provide the tools, guidance, and support needed to participate in sports, push personal limits, and regain a sense of freedom and confidence.
Our Youth Program offers children and teens aged 10 to 18 unique on-the-water experiences—completely free—helping them build curiosity, self-esteem, and life skills.
At AQVA, we celebrate personal achievement and demonstrate that living with a disability does not prevent anyone from fully enjoying the wind, the water, and the joy of sailing. Our inclusive community of sailors and volunteers welcomes every individual, supports them, and highlights their abilities. We are proud to rely on dedicated and generous volunteers who create a dynamic, safe, and inspiring environment.
AQVA depends on the financial support of private, public, and corporate donors. These contributions fund the purchase and maintenance of adapted sailboats and other essential equipment, support the Youth Program, and make recreational outings accessible to all—at a symbolic cost of $20 per outing for adult participants.
