From the very beginning, the non-profit organization Second Chance Workshop Inc. (ASC) has made it its mission to develop work opportunities to bring about positive changes in the lives of marginalized people. With the method established to finance their programs, ASC contributes to reducing poverty and contributes significantly to protecting the environment in order to live on a greener planet. Even with its limited resources, in only ten years of operation, the organization has managed to help more than 150 people find stable work.

Second chance workshop is the only organization of its kind in New Brunswick and the training mechanism used is unique. To do this, they opened a used furniture store in Moncton - Enviro Plus. We are counting on the generosity of local people to donate slightly used furniture and appliances that they no longer use. Our students - people on social assistance - are responsible for cleaning and repairing these recycled items and preparing them for sale. In turn, our contribution of caring for the environment has been recognized by the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce and by ECO 360; two major agencies in the South-East of the Province.

The "New Light Program" has been in operation since October 2022.  Our Pre-employment program now involves people with no fixed addresses. The aim is to approach and involve a certain segment of the population without a fixed address, to recognize those who maintain a certain emotional stability and seem sufficiently motivated and committed to change their life situation. To make this happen, we rely on The House of Nazareth and Rising Tide-Moncton that offer these people temporary lodging until such time when they can find permanent lodging.
