Rhys is one of those happy independent kids on the spectrum who insists on doing everything himself before asking for help. This independence becomes especially challenging when it's time for a haircut. Each visit, Rhys often tenses up and becomes anxious when he hears the sound of scissors or feels someone touching his hair, making every appointment a stressful experience for him. Seeing how difficult these haircuts were for Rhys, his dad Jason began searching for creative ways to make the experience more enjoyable and meaningful. As it had been three years since Jason's last haircut, he came up with the idea of raising funds for Autism Calgary by having Rhys cut his hair himself. Not only would this make Rhys feel proud and involved, but donating the hair would also help others in need, turning a challenging moment into an opportunity for kindness and connection.
