The Back to the Sea Society is dedicated to sparking curiosity for marine life and inspiring a desire to protect our ocean. Through hands-on education, we bring the ocean to eye level and strive to inspire the next generation of ocean stewards.
We operate the Touch Tank Hut on the Dartmouth Waterfront, a seasonal mini marine interpretive centre.
Our ultimate goal is to open a permanent catch-and-release aquarium on the Dartmouth Waterfront in Nova Scotia. The catch-and-release philosophy allows the animals to be returned back to the sea at the end of the season, minimizing environmental impact.
What People Are Saying
"The energy level of these not for profit people is amazing. We need to support them as much as possible so don’t forget to leave your donation and support this great cause. The team at the Touch Tank Hut is really knowledgeable."

"We loved our Touch Tank Hut visit! It was fun for our 2.5 year old but we adults found it interesting as well. The staff was excellent! I would definitely recommend a stop in. I certainly support creating an aquarium in our city and hope enough funds get raised to do so. We will visit again!!"
