Established in 1984, the Beaverhill Bird Observatory is the second oldest bird migration monitoring observatory in Canada. Our long-term data tracks changes in migratory bird populations, the breeding success and survivorship of local breeding birds, and Northern Saw-whet Owl movements. Our hands-on work with birds also provides the perfect opportunity to engage the public in activities that foster knowledge and appreciation of birds and natural history in Alberta.
As a non-profit, the BBO relies on grants, casinos, and donations to continue the work we do, none of which can be counted on from year to year. Our intention, by creating this Endowment Fund with the Edmonton Community Foundation, is to eventually provide reliable, ongoing funding for our organization.
