About BENTON STREET BAPTIST CHURCH
Benton Street Baptist Church, located in downtown Kitchener, Ontario, was founded as the first German Baptist church in Canada in September, 1851. It has a membership of approximately 500, with an average Sunday morning attendance of about 400. Benton is affiliated with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada, an association of over 500 churches throughout the nation. In its 150 year history, Benton Street Baptist has stood as a flagship evangelical congregation in the community and has been known for its emphasis on Bible teaching and preaching, missions and evangelism.
The Benton family is diverse by many descriptions, especially in age, ethnicity and backgrounds. Most of our members and attenders have been raised in the Baptist tradition, but many are from other church traditions as well. The congregation is drawn from a wide area from downtown locations, suburban areas and neighbouring communities.
