Our Mission

To establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Best Buddies is about creating friendships between individuals with and without intellectual disabilities. Contact between students and individuals with an intellectual disability seldom occurs spontaneously. Creating chapters at elementary and high schools, colleges and universities across the country, Best Buddies facilitates friendships by pairing individuals in one-to-one friendships and by organizing group activities. A Best Buddies friendship helps break down barriers to inclusion and provides opportunities for shared experiences, laughter and support. The Best Buddies program provides opportunities for leadership experience and training for everyone involved and opens doors for its volunteers.
