Through our various programs, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron provides a safe forum where children in need can form meaningful positive relationships with adults, in order to foster their personal development, self-esteem and self-confidence. Volunteer mentors (who have been screened, trained and supervised by a professional caseworker) provide friendship and encouragement, role modeling and guidance to the children they support. Although the focus of the match is friendship, the children receive immeasurable opportunities to enrich their world.
For over 39 years, our Agency has provided a direct service to children in this community by matching them to adult volunteers in quality relationships. The children we serve come from single, dual, kinship and foster parent families. The criteria for acceptance into our program are that the children are in need of a positive role model.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron is continually seeking funding to maintain the excellent programs offered to our community’s children and to expand our programs so we can realize our goal of “Every Child Who Needs a Mentor….has a Mentor”. We provide services locally, including traditional one-to-one mentoring, In School Mentoring and Big Bunch.
